My wife and I have a fascination with the Medieval and Renaissance periods of history, especially the dress and weaponry of the times. Perhaps it's a subconscious longing for a previous life. To appease these urges, we attend Renaissance faires (yes, in costume). If you share these interests, or are just curious, get thee to these fine sites:
Spend the day in a replica 16th century village from days of King Henry VIII. The Faire is open each weekend from early April through Memorial day, and is located only 30 minutes south of Dallas/Fort Worth near Waxahachie, Texas.
Step back in time with this re-creation of an authentic 16th Century English village. Set admidst a shady pine forest, this 50-acre Renaissance theme park is located 38 miles northwest of Houston. TRF is open each weekend from early October through mid-November.
